"The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows." - Sydney J. Harris
Take a moment to close your
eyes - yes close them. Relax and just be. Think back to your eighth
grade graduation. That seems like such a long time ago! Do you even
recognize the boy you were? Do you remember coming
to St. Francis as that boy? Look at yourself now. Look how far you've
come. See how much you've grown and how you have changed in just a few short years. You are not
only wiser - four years at a college-preparatory school will certainly
challenge you. As a Golden Knight, your mind
and heart have been enriched. You are a Golden Knight. You will leave
our campus a Golden Knight - we encourage you to live your life always
mindful of why you came to St. Francis.
Open your eyes. Opportunity and new experiences await you. Always be a Golden Knight!
As you prepare for one
of life's greatest highlights - graduation - be mindful of the windows
you can create. This means you need to look and seek out "life". It
challenges you with thinking of others, not just yourself -
the image you see in a mirror. Don't be limited by the mirror. Think and
Think of your time at St.
Francis as a window. Think now about how you can perpetuate the
tradition of Golden Knights. Begin with a small token - even a gift of
$1 turns a mirror into a window. Look and seek beyond
yourself as Francis did. Create a window for other boys who want to
follow in your footsteps. In turn, you will make a difference - you will
create opportunity - you will perpetuate the brotherhood of Golden
Knights that is St. Francis High School.
God bless you - always know we are here for you - visit often - you will be missed.
